North Shropshire
NORTH SHROPSHIRE GRANTS SCHEME
North Shropshire District Council’s Grant Scheme offers assistance to incoming and start up businesses and businesses looking to grow within the district. Its aim is to help develop a diverse and dynamic business base in North Shropshire District.

Shropshire Festivals Grants Scheme
Festival time can mean lots of local economic benefit from the visitors attracted to stay in our hotels or B&B accommodation. There is a fabulous range of festivals in Shropshire, as well as great restaurants and attractions to appeal to visitors. Festivals, of course, are also a means for communities to join together to celebrate and show off.
Celebrating Shropshire’s Festivals and Events provides business support for festivals.
We offer:
- Grant funding for business development and infrastructure support
- Event training courses in planning, health and safety and more
- Advice and support on a one to one basis
- Networking forums, for discussion with other organisers about some of festival managements stickier problems

Shropshire Tourism Research Unit
All business decisions should be underpinned by reliable research. Shropshire Tourism Research Unit (STRU) provides a research service to the tourism industry in Shropshire so that everyone operating in tourism in the county has access to the data they need to make the right choices. Much of what we produce is freely available to anyone who is interested. However, we also provide a five day confidential service to businesses in Shropshire which is completely free of charge.
We can help you to:
- Design questionnaires and analyse findings
- Survey your visitors for profiling and customer satisfaction monitoring
- Benchmark your business against the competition
- Evaluate marketing & advertising initiatives
- Monitor your business activities
- Provide relevant statistics and information to support business planning

Sharing the best of Shropshire
Shropshire’s distinctive culture, heritage and landscape are priceless, enriching peoples lives in countless ways.
Sharing the best of Shropshire works to make better use of interpretation and marketing to celebrate and promote what’s special about Shropshire.
It offers free help through:
- Five days expert one to one support
- Grants of up to £2,500 to pay for additional expert support
- Grants of up to £1,000 towards developing, producing & promoting things for visitors to do
- Advice, contacts and networking
The project has worked with communities, small businesses and attractions to develop visitor facilities such as walking guides, guided walks, information panels, print, tours, web pages, wildlife safaris, interpretation and marketing plans.
