The member's web site contains a mix of news, offers and opportunities, businesses advice and support which we hope you will find both useful and interesting.
SHROPSHIRE TOURISM LAUNCHES NEW IT AND WEB BASED SOLUTIONS
With funding support from the Shropshire & Telford Destination Management Partnership, Shropshire Tourism is delivering a number of exciting new IT and web based solutions for Shropshire's visitors, all of which have been designed in-house using our IT and web team. Read on ....
- Availability and Booking online - A system designed in-house using our experience of tourism marketing and support and feedback from members, the availability and booking system is user friendly and commission free!
- SMS Text Service - Tent cards are being displayed in bedrooms, self catering units and reception areas to promote key events in Shropshire. All visitors have to do is text: Shrops to 60777 to get details on the latest event that they can visit whilst in Shropshire. The SMS Text Service is being trialled until December.
- visitshropshire.mobi - With technology moving so quickly and visitors wanting instant up-to-date information, we are pleased to launch Shropshire Tourism's .mobi website. You will find the majority of information that is shown on the .co.uk site, it's just edited down to make it mobile friendly.
- Online Ticketing for attractions - This hastle free system enables visitors to book their tickets at key attractions before their stay.

REGULATORY REFORM (FIRE SAFETY) ORDER 2005
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 came into force on 1 October 2006 replacing previous legislation.
It affects all forms of sleeping accommodation including everything in the Guest Accommodation scheme not previously covered i.e. those sleeping one to six guests. In relation to self-catering properties - it does not affect single private dwellings, but applies to blocks of flats etc. A house converted into holiday flats or for holiday letting will need to comply - as would a private house with B&B accommodation included in it.

JOINT MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT - SAVING YOU MONEY!
Shropshire Tourism has a joint membership arrangement with Shrewsbury Tourism Association, North Shropshire Association and South Shropshire Tourism Association. This means that for a single membership fee of £90.00 (inc vat), depending on where your businesses is located, you can now automatically receive the full benefits of each of these organisations.
One of the major benefits of membership is a web entry on the Official Tourism Website for Shropshire - shropshiretourism.co.uk and the Official district tourism websites.

TOURISM BUSINESSES FOR SALE WEBSITE
Shropshire Tourism has designed a website to help people find some of the tourism businesses that are for sale in Shropshire.
If you are selling your tourism business you can advertise on this website. There is a reduced fee for members of Shropshire Tourism.
For obvious reasons we do not display sensitive information such as turnover and all the information provided on a particular business is provided by the vendors. We advise all prospective purchasers to make sure that they satisfy themselves fully before making any offer or parting with any money!
We have also provided some useful contact details where you can get advice on a range of subjects from business support, planning matters, grant eligibility, tourism statistics and tourism marketing support.
Shropshire Tourism is not an estate agent and we do not take commission from vendors or buyers – how refreshing is that?

UK Internet Register
You may have recently received a website registration form for the UK Internet Register. This form has a free fax number to register your business. However, please note the small print at the bottom of the form. By signing and returning the form you are contractually obliged to pay the annual fee of £639 for three years.
Please ensure you read the document carefully. The UK Internet register website (www.uk-internet-register.com) is a working website, but please ensure you want to advertise on the site before signing and returning the form.

Funded Training for eligible staff through Train to Gain with Business Link
Train to Gain is a government funded training initiative for organisations delivered in partnership with the Learning and Skills Council and Business Link West Midlands.
The support pays for the training of eligible employees, with less than
5 GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, as well as making a contribution towards
their wage costs (if you employ less than 50 full time staff).
The package of support is delivered through Train to Gain. You can either
select a Train to Gain approved training provider or in some instances,
a provider of your own choice. You can discuss the best solution for your
organisation with your Skills Broker.

New Legal Requirements on Websites
Companies in the UK must now include certain regulatory information on their websites and in their email footers or they will breach the Companies Act and risk a fine.
The following is the minimum information that must be on any company's website (from OUT-LAW's guide, The UK's Ecommerce Regulations).

The name, geographic address and email address of the service provider. The name of the organisation with which the customer is contracting must be given. This might differ from the trading name. Any such difference should be explained - e.g. "XYZ.com is the trading name of XYZ Enterprises Limited."

It is not sufficient to include a 'contact us' form without also providing an email address and geographic address somewhere easily accessible on the site. A PO Box is unlikely to suffice as a geographic address; but a registered office address would. If the business is a company, the registered office address must be included. Such information is already required on "business letters" but the duty is being extended to websites, order forms and electronic documents

If a company, the company's registration number should be given and, under the Companies Act, the place of registration should be stated (e.g. "XYZ Enterprises Limited is a company registered in England and Wales with company number 1234567")

If the business is a member of a trade or professional association, membership details, including any registration number, should be provided.

If the business has a VAT number, it should be stated - even if the website is not being used for e-commerce transactions.

Prices on the website must be clear and unambiguous. Also, state whether prices are inclusive of tax and delivery costs.

Get discounts on your inspection with the AA NOW
Shropshire Tourism is committed to the County policy of promoting only graded and inspected accommodation.
The AA have agreed to offer all Shropshire Tourism members a 10% discount off the inspection fee. The AA are offering a 15% discount on new inspections only.
All you need to do is provide a copy of your Shropshire Tourism membership certificate or a copy of your membership receipt along with your inspection application for the AA. You must deduct the 15% (AA New inspections only) discount off the amount due for your inspection at the time of making the application as any discount cannot be claimed retrospectively.
Please note unfortunately the AA discount is only available to new applications not renewals.
