What is your website doing for you?

Putting your business on the web has come a long way. A few years ago there was a clear emphasis on getting "a page" online, simply to ensure you were seen by the increasing number of people searching the internet. Nowadays, increased competition means that simply having a website is not enough.

Numerous online marketing companies have sprung up to help promote your site via search engine optimisation or managed pay per click campaigns.  They often focus purely on an increase in traffic and equate that to "being good for your business".

However, it is very easy to focus purely on the traffic to your site, yet miss the bigger picture.  Often hundreds, perhaps thousands of visits a month can relate to little or no rate of return. Are the visitors to your site contacting you, or taking special offers?  Or are they simply leaving?

In order to convert a visitor into a customer, you must ensure you attract relevant visitors, capture their attention with a professional design, portray your businesses in the best possible light and finally have a clear call to action ("Book Now!", "Click for special offer", "Contact Us", "Sign up for our newsletter").  Website statistics and a clear goal are vital to monitoring how your site performs.
