Local Food Retailer in Tourism Awards Final

A ludlow food retailer is in the running for a Heart of England Award at this year’s ‘Excellence in Tourism Awards’. The Ludlow Food Centre has reached the final of the prestigious awards in the ‘Taste of the Heart’ category.

The awards have seen 126 entries from businesses throughout the region and the Food Centre has made in to the last three.

The final, and the awards ceremony, will take place in Birmingham University’s Great Hall on October 21st.  All the finalist will gather for an awards dinner where the lucky winners will be announced and given their award. The first round of judging took place back in July and there has been a subsequent secret visit to the shortlisted finalists.

The Food Centre has been shortlisted because of its commitment to local produce, the quality of its food, the high levels of customer service and its ability to attract tourism to the region.

Tom Hunt, Marketing Manager at the Food Centre says, ‘When we entered in June we didn’t think that we would even be shortlisted so to get this far is great.  Having been open for three and half years it is even more important to be recognised as a centre for excellence in food because it shows we are keeping up our high standards.  Being in the final is testament to the quality of our staff, the food they produce and the wide variety of award winning products that we can source from this region’

The Food Centre is up against two other businesses in the final and is the only Shropshire finalist in their category.
