Shropshire Tourism Press & PR Activity

We thought you might like to hear about just some of the press and PR enquiries the Shropshire Tourism team have been busy working on recently. We all know the importance of great press coverage for the county and how it helps raise awareness of Shropshire as a visitor destination, and as always we’re very grateful to our members who kindly offer complimentary accommodation and tickets to visiting journalists.

In the last couple of months alone we've received great TV coverage on Escape to the Country and Countryfile, but the good news is there's more to come!

Shropshire Tourism helped to facilitate filming at the Mere in Ellesmere recently for the new BBC series 'Holiday of My Lifetime' presented by Strictly Come Dancing's Len Goodman. The result - 80's icon Toyah Wilcox and Len both visited The Mere, one of her favourite childhood destinations. The new series should start around August.

We've also helped to organise press trips for Cyclist Magazine (they're coming to do an 8 - 10 page feature on riding in some of the most beautiful spots in Shropshire for publication in their January issue) and The Northern Echo newspaper, which covers the North-East and North Yorkshire. They will be visiting a few Shropshire Tourism member attractions during their stay to get a flavour of all the things there are to do in the county.

We've also been dealing with a number of requests for images and/or information from a range of titles and organisations. Just lately these have included (but aren’t limited to): Welsh Border Life Magazine, Cheshire Life, Which Motorhome Monthly, Somerset Life/ Great British Holidays and Breaks and VisitEngland. We’re also currently working with researchers for a new wedding documentary they have in the pipeline.

In fact, in the last 12 months alone we’ve dealt with 22 press and PR requests. We know our members value it and it helps raise awareness of Shropshire, so we’ll continue to do our utmost to generate positive press and PR coverage for our members and for the county as a whole.
