European funding to support Tourism Projects within the Marches

European funding to support Tourism Projects within the Marches

The new RDPE Growth Programme has launched a call for project proposals. The call invites applications for investment in rural areas that will support the development of visitor attractions, tourist information, recreational infrastructure and small scale infrastructure. Grants will help rural businesses and communities seeking to invest in recreational and small scale rural tourism infrastructure.

Grants will be available from £35,000 up to £100,000.  Applicants can apply for a grant to cover up to 40% of the project’s total eligible costs for commercial investments in profit-making operations. The minimum total eligible cost of a project for this call would therefore be £87,500.00.

The call document is now available at https://www.gov.uk/european-structural-investment-funds together with guidance which identifies the types of activity that can be funded and the size of grants, eligible match required and the types of activities that are ineligible such as costs of marketing and promotion. The application must clearly demonstrate the contribution the project can make to the destination as a whole.

It is anticipated that a broader call to support tourism activities will be announced in the autumn.

Timed surgeries for potential applicants are being arranged across the Marches. If you are interested in attending a surgery to discuss your project application with a local authority officer, please contact the officer named for that area to book a timed slot.
