You Can Engage with Digital Platforms to Drive Business!

More and more people are choosing to take their short breaks in the UK, so what better way to help promote your business than through the web as well as in print. Check out these tips to maximise your online presence…

Website activity can help towards gaining business for you, so it is important to look at your online website(s) and social media platforms from a business perspective. So many of us are turning to the web for information - so give visitors something interesting to look at and create the desire for them to spend their free time and money with you!

You may have heard of various phrases words like ‘outbound linking’, ‘blogging, ‘hyperlinks’, ‘social networking’ etc. and thinking it is all a foreign language – but don’t worry we are here to help!

Get engaged with the online world! No, we are not talking about matrimony, but making sure your website does more for your visitors and for you too. Here are some website tips to get more from your website:

1)      Get social; link text, images and videos on social media platforms to gain traffic from your audiences to your website and vice versa. This is an excellent way to grow NEW customers as well as serving your existing customer market! The point of social media (amongst many other reasons) is to find out more about your customers, so that you can offer the right product/service to the right people at the right time!

2)      Blog – even if you are not a writer! Not only will it build and sustain your audience, but if you find you have no marketing budget or just want to ‘dip your toe in the water’ of online marketing, then blogging is for you – it’s free!

3)      Use images and videos; If ‘a picture paints a thousand words’, how much is a video worth?

Our brains can process visuals 60,000 times faster than text so before visitors read even one word, they have probably already decided if they are going to continue viewing your website or move on to the next one. After seeing a product video people are between 64-85% more likely to buy your product!

Whether the images or videos you display show people enjoying themselves at your hotel, attraction or event, for instance, people will be automatically be able to envisage themselves enjoying that experience-so much more than words can!

4)      Refresh content as much as you can; to include company updates, special offers and events - this will all help drive traffic to your website and therefore business, which will hopefully turn into bookings! If you see an opportunity to hyperlink certain words to other pages of your website; do so, this will help increase your search ranking in Google and better still, make the user experience more useful.

5)      Publish feedback on your website - everyone likes a positive testimonial; it puts potential visitors at ease knowing others have had good experiences, so it is less of a risk to ‘give it a go’ and try something new. Alternatively add a TripAdvisor button to you listing, so that people can get instant feedback from visitors who have had the experiences you wish to take. Get in touch if you want us to do add this button to your Shropshire Tourism web listing!
