Restoring The Marches Mosses Survey – Have Your Say

Shropshire Wildlife Trust are currently consulting with local communities to find appropriate ways of raising the profile of the Fenn's, Whixall & Bettisfield and Wem Moss complex.

The Fenn's, Whixall & Bettisfield and Wem Moss complex is the third largest lowland raised peatbog in the UK and has been the subject of over 20 years restoration by Natural England, Natural Resources Wales and Shropshire Wildlife Trust.

As part of the development of the Meres and Mosses project, Natural England, Natural Resources Wales and the Shropshire Wildlife Trust have bid for funding to carry out extensive management works and encourage more people to understand the mosses through volunteering, improved appropriate access and research. They are also purchasing additional land adjacent to the existing Nature Reserve including the old Furber scrapyard and flooded fields to the South.
