Mobile-friendly websites to rank higher on Google

Mobile-friendly websites to rank higher on Google

Last year, Google started to penalise non-mobile friendly websites in search results. This year, the need for mobile-friendliness grows stronger as Google updates its algorithm.

Google have stated that starting in May 2016, all websites that are not mobile-friendly will be penalised even more as compared to websites that are mobile-friendly, meaning that mobile-friendly websites will rank higher in search results.
This, of course, means that if your website is not mobile-friendly, you could be losing out on potential customers - even more so if your competitors websites are mobile-friendly.

Ensuring you have a mobile-friendly and responsive website is important, particularly as usage of tablets and smartphones grows - not only this but our client's analytics often show that mobile devices outweigh desktops. For example, one of our highest visited websites based in Shropshire shows that over 50% of traffic is received from mobile devices.

What exactly is a mobile-friendly and responsive website?

A responsive website will automatically adapt to the screen size you are viewing it on. So, there’s no need to zoom in and out of the website if you're viewing it on your smart device (such as an iPad, iPhone, Android Tablet or Phone); the website will respond to suit - and, more importantly, your customers / website visitors will be able to view it in a more user-friendly format.

The content will automatically adjust and fit the size of the screen that it's being displayed on and things like navigation bars are tucked away within a collapsible menu. This allows the website visitor to view your website in the simplest way possible, without hindrance or obstruction.

How do I ensure my website is mobile-friendly?
