Beware! - Chinese Domain Name Scam

Please be aware of companies contacting you apparently ‘concerned’ with protecting your domain name and/or trading name. In most cases it is a scam. We have received a few emails on the topic of Chinese and/or Asian domain registration emails. The emails are sent to the addresses publicly listed for a given domain name from an alleged Chinese domain name registration assistance services. Once you respond they will try and sell you domains that have various suffixes – and usually at vastly inflated costs. Our advice do not reply and mark their emails as junk!

These emails seem to come from a variety of sources but generally seem to take the same form as the examples below (note that the domain names in question have been replaced with yourdomain.com)

Example 1:

Dear xxxx,
