Have your say in Shropshire Council’s new parking strategy consultation

Shropshire Council provide car parks and on-street parking in towns across Shropshire. The way the parking within the county is run is determined by the parking strategy. The current strategy and charging arrangements were introduced in 2012 and the council believe after 5 years a lot has changed in terms of technology, payment methods, and value for money and feel a new strategy needs to be put in place. They are looking to develop the car parking charges simpler, cleaner, easier to understand and consistent across the county and want your opinion on what you think and how best to go about it to draw up a new parking Strategy with this consultation. Shropshire Tourism has responded already and expressed concerns that increased charges and introducing the earlier evening charges may well have a negative impact on the visitor, retail and evening economy.

This consultation is split into four sections, you can have your say on individual sections or on the consultation in it’s entirely:

Section 1- Linear parking; Pricing bands; Unrestricted parking; Evening parking; Loading bays; ‘Pop and Shop’ parking and Raven meadows opening hours

Section 2- A new policy and tariff framework for weekly tickets, season tickets, residents’ off-street permits and for coach and HGV parking.

Section 3- Proposed changes to out on- street residents’ parking permit scheme

Section 4- Proposed changes to the car parking wavier system.

The consultation closes on Tuesday 17th October so make sure you have your say and get involved via the link below.
