Hotel in the Name

From January 2008 all VisitBritain and AA star-rated guest accommodation should have removed 'hotel' from their trading name in brochures and on headed paper, signage and websites.

The word 'hotel' may be retained in the web address and on exterior signage if this is not due for replacement. The over-riding intention is to avoid misleading consumers, which is especially important for four and five-star establishments. The stars should always be shown alongside the correct designator.
